Summer break allows you time to create a workout regimen, prepare home-cooked meals, and just relax and unwind. The start of the school year generally brings some lunches out during training and then once the kids start back, all hell breaks loose. I’m married to a teacher and know first-hand how crazy those first few weeks can be trying to balance lesson plans and classroom management, meet the teacher nights, tons of meetings, and the extra demands of administrators imposing new processes on the staff. It’s easy to throw all of your healthy summer habits out the window. It’s also frustrating to have limited bathroom breaks and freedom in general. When are you supposed to cook and exercise if you have to grade papers and plan every evening? I promise, it’s possible.
While I can’t take away the inherent stress of your highly under-valued and often thankless profession, I can make recommendations to help you stay on track and keep your energy up, as well as fortify your body so you don’t catch every virus that makes the rounds throughout the year.
The best way to combat the stress of teaching is by prioritizing your health and taking good care of yourself. I’m here to help.
